Celebrities Come Out to Honor at the Triumph Awards

Last night, the 2015 Triumph Awards presented by Reverend Al Sharpton, National Action Network (NAN) and TV One, was filmed in Atlanta at 200 Peachtree. Hosted by actressTichina Arnold, the ceremony - now in its 6th year - recognized the impact its honorees have made on our society. Recording artist and philanthropist Tyrese Gibson was presented the Entertainer of the Year honor by Martin Luther King III and received a special message from friend and fellow entertainer Ludacris. With a body of work as a civil rights leader, activist and minister spanning over six decades, Rev. Dr. Joseph Echols Lowery received the Chairman's Award for Historic & Transformative Service. Emmy® winning comedienne, actress and producer Wanda Sykesreceived the Activism in the Arts honor for her years of service to youth homelessness and engagement within the LGBT community. Chief Diversity Officer and Global Director of Education and External Relations for Intel, Rosalind Hudnell was presented the honor of Corporate Executive of the Year in support of her distinguished leadership within the corporate sector. The night's final honor, the President's Award for Service and Humanitarian Efforts, was presented to John Legend for his work as a vocal champion for social justice. Presenters included Afemo Omilami, Danielle Nicolet, Darrin Henson, Donnie Simpson,Nicole Beharie, Soledad O'Brien, Syleena Johnson, Richard Lawson, Patrik-Ian Polk andTerri J. Vaughn. Musical performances included Tyrese, Tasha Cobbs, Estelle, Jazmine Sullivan, Ledisi,Chante Moore, Stokley Williams and the Youth Ensemble of Atlanta. Award winning hip-hop artist, T.I. delivered an original spoken word piece titled "United We Stand." Musical Director and house band for the night was The Robert Glasper Experiment. The 2015 Triumph Awards will air on Saturday, October 3 at 8PM/ET on TV One. Check out pics from the event below:

Survivor’s Remorse Season 2 Premiere Screening

STARZ® and XFINITY® hosted a red carpet premiere for the second season of the hit show “Survivor’s Remorse” at Regal Cinemas Atlantic Station in Atlanta. Cast in attendance included Tichina Arnold, Mike Epps, RonReaco Lee, Erica Ash, Teyonah Parris and Allen Maldonado along with show creator Mike O’Malleyand executive producers Victor Levin, Hilton Smith and associate producer Dianne Ashford. Special guests included Jacob Latimore (who appeared in Season 1 of “Survivor’s Remorse”), HGTV host Egypt Sherrod, “Real Housewives of Atlanta” personalities Claudia Jordan and Demetria McKinney, HLN anchors Melissa Knowles and Yasmin Vossoughian,visual artist Fahamu Pecou and HLN sports correspondent Brian McFayden. Attendees were treated to a sneak peek screening of episodes 1 and 2 followed by a Q&A with the cast moderated by McFayden. Design Essentials 25th Anniversary Gala

Design Essentials celebrated 25 years in the Hair Care industry during the Bronner Bros. hair show weekend.  The gala included Atlanta's who's who in attendance.  WE TV's, Mushiya Tshikuka, Darlene McCoy, Andre Walker, and brand ambassador, Ledisi were amongst the notable celebs partying the night away.  It was truly a celebratory event with delicious eats and drinks.  The music had everyone on the floor and Ledisi saluted Design Essentials with a song.  Check out pics from the event below:

Salute Her: Superwomen Making A Difference Awards Reception & Luncheon

Over 150 attendees experienced the Salute Her: Superwomen Making A Difference Awards Reception & Luncheon.  The event was sponsored by Hyundai Motor Company America.  Loni Love, Café Mocha and The Real Daytime Talk Show co-host, brought laughter and realness to the luncheon.   Gentle Treatment provided each honoree a gift basket and presented Shirley Strawberry with her Media Legend Award.   Chico's Clothing dressed the women from the Support Sisters House shelter and they attended.   Each lady was presented with a necklace.  Angie Stone was surprised with Café Mocha: Soul Solidarity Award.  Chico's raffled off $250 gift cards and jewelry.

Gocha Salon Grand Opening

Saturday, celeb hairstylist Gocha Hawkins celebrated the official grand opening of her new Midtown Atlanta salon during Bronner Bros Hair Show weekend. Hawkins opened her spacious, pink and silver salon up to over 200+ fans, friends and fellow WE tv “L.A. Hair” castmates who sipped cocktails by The Perfect Bartender and indulged in hors d’oeuvres catered by Scales 925. Special guests included John Paul Mitchell Systems founder and Patron Tequila owner John Paul DeJoria and John Paul Mitchell Systems Global Artistic Director Robert Cromeans, who congratulated Gocha on her salon opening and thanked her for being a longtime supporter of Paul Mitchell hair products. Additional guests included Phaedra Parks and Carmon Cambrice of “Real Housewives of Atlanta;” “Married to Medicine” cast members Dr. Heavenly, Lisa Nicole Cloud, Quad Webb-Lunceford and Toya Bush Harris; “Cutting It: In the ATL” castMaja Sly, Dedra Allen, Beautii Joseph, and LaKenya Morris; Erica Dixon (“Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta”); Toya Wright, Latavia Roberson, and “L.A. Hair” cast members Kim Kimble, Jonathan Antin, China Upshaw, Terry Hunt, Anthony Pazos, Dontay Savoy and Naja Rickette. The cast of “L.A. Hair” sat down with hair blogger and BOSSIP editor Alexis Felder for a brief Q&A followed by more photo opps, laughs, drinks and selfies. At the end of the party, Gocha thanked the guests for attending and reminded them that Gocha Salon is open six days a week (on Sundays!) and is available as rental space for events. Women That Rock LIVE featuring Zoe Clarke

Neighborhood Awards: Steve Harvey Morning Show LIVE in ATL

The Perfect Guy Blogger Dinner ATL

On, Thursday, August 6th, Screen Gems hosted a special blogger dinner for their new film, THE PERFECT GUY, in Atlanta at local hot spot, Time Restaurant & Lounge, in Midtown, with the film's stars, SANAA LATHAN and MICHAEL EALY. The 45 minute intimate dinner was hosted by HGTV personality, Egypt Sherrod, who introduced a special clip from the film before introducing Sanaa and Michael to the audience. Egypt asked a myriad of questions to the cast including descriptions about their character roles in the movie, love, relationship & dating advice for today's woman, and key takeaways that the cast wanted to express before the movie's highly anticipated September 11th release.
