McBride Sisters Bring Flair to Wine Country

McBrideSisters©Magdalena20147190colorI recently had the opportunity to meet the McBride sisters, the first African-American women to create and own their wine company.  I must say, when reading about these sisters, I felt an immediate sense of pride for all that they have accomplished.  I was invited to join them at their penthouse suite during a PR tour in Atlanta, GA.  Upon walking in, I was graciously greeted by two beautiful amazons.  Really, these women could be models!  Andrea and Robin McBride not only captured me with their stunning looks, but their story of how these two half sisters were reunited left me on the edge of my seat.

McBrideSisters©Magdalena20147115Continents apart, Andréa and Robin McBride grew up among vineyards —each independently fostering her own appreciation for the craft of winemaking, unaware of the other for nearly half of their lives. However, despite the 7,000 miles that separated them, these sisters would eventually find their way to one another.  Their compelling story—proof of the bond that can form over a bottle of wine—is now being told through Truvée(pronounced Troo-vay). Fittingly derived from the French verb “to find,” each bottle of Truvée is a reflection of one shared vision that grew out of two individual stories.

Andrea and Robin talked to me about not knowing their father and the series of events that took place to bring the two together from opposite sides of the globe.  It truly is a story that they should consider bringing to a book.  It’s an amazing story of love, remorse, and bonding that many would be inspired by if they were to hear it.  I was so intrigued by their stories because through all that they endured, these ladies never gave up.  I told them, its as if you two were purposed to have the life you’ve had in order to come together and create Truvee’.

Let’s talk about the wine!  I sampled the Chardonnay and the Red Blend.  Both, were a treat for the palette.  The chardonnay was so light and delicate to the taste, yet still holding a full bodied flavor that could pair well with chicken or steak.  The fruity notes could easily be tasted in each satisfying sip.  When I got to the red blend, let me tell you, one sniff and I knew it was top notch!  I am serious about my wines and this red is now at the top of my list.  The flavor was subtle and smooth with no bitter aftertaste.  I could pair this wine with a delicious salmon dinner and be totally content with the complimentary tastes.  Even one of my partners who is not a wine drinker, had to admit that he was sold on Truvee’.
