New Documentary “Dreamchaser” Shows One Woman’s Fight to End Human Trafficking

When we think of sex workers, we think of grown women making the conscious decision to sell their bodies for money. But that’s far from the truth. Far too many of the people working in the sex trade–willingly and unwillingly- are underaged girls who’ve been coerced into the lifestyle.

And a new documentary seeks to shed some light on this very important issue.

Dreamcatcher has been generatiing a buzz after winning an award at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival and now, it’s coming to Showtime.

According to Shadow and Act, the network will premiere the film on March 27 at 9 pm ET/PT.

It’s an inspirational profile of Brenda Myers-Powell. The Dreamcatcher Foundation, which Myers-Powell founded, fights to help end human trafficking and prevent the sexual exploitation of at-risk youth.

Myers-Powell, a former sex worker herself, helps teenage girls break the cycle of sexual abuse and explotation while highlighting the violence that many of these women, their families and their communities face.

The film was directed and shot by British filmmaker Kim Longinotto and produced by Lisa Stevens and three time Emmy winner Teddy Leifer.

You can watch a trailer for the documentary in the video below.

Tune in March 27 at 9pm on Showtime. I think this will be very interesting!
