Women That Rock- Gwen Bunn

I have a special treat for all of my music lovers out there. This week’s feature Artist hails from Decatur, Ga.  Let me introduce to you “Gwen Bunn”.  This very talented musician, singer, songwriter, producer and rapper, has a very refreshing style that is like no other. I guess if you had to describe her you would say she crosses different genres seamlessly. The smoothness of her silky voice carries great against the experimental Hiphop, Jazzy beats. I discovered this hidden gem while listening to Atlanta’s WCLK one stormy night, the track that happened to be playing not only provided a backdrop for the evening but seemed to have peaked my curiosity to research this refreshing new talent. Upon my discovery, I uncovered that, not only did Gwen study music at Berkeley School of music, she’s also produced Schoolboy Q ‘s Collard Greens featuring Kendrick Lamar.

My favorite track happens to be a track entitled “Epitome”, which speaks on a love affair, if set to music would be considered a love song. I simply love this infectiously romantic love Ballad, I advise you guys to check out her EP entitled, ” The Verdict”.  There’s a track called “Here I Go” that delivers a brassy horn and marching band drum beat pattern, production on this track is a hard hitting bass thumping sound followed by a sweet but somewhat commanding vocal styling, she delivers effortlessly on this track. There is also another track that I absolutely love entitled “Street Light” that she performs alongside “Jordan Rakei”. This joint is so laid back and relaxing, it is that track you put on when you want to chillax after a long day.  But don’t just take my word, I advise you to get to know this exciting artist for yourselves by visiting her page on bandcamp.com.  Remember, support this gifted musician and artist alike.
